Over 60 species of orchids and around 2,000 species of bromeliads blooming in the area are a testament to the reserve’s plant diversity. There are lagoons, flooded forests, and a river that flows right through the center.

Yasuni National Park Biosphere Reserve

This reserve in the Amazon Basin is tucked into the eastern foothills of the Andes.It’s home to jaguars, marmosets, caimans, and macaws, among others. There are thousands of species of plants and trees, and researchers believe there are as many as 100 species of trees per acre.

Two un-contacted tribes – the Tagaeri and the Taromenane–live in isolation in Yasuni. It is believed that only a handful of members are left per tribe.

Limoncocha Ecological Reserve

The reserve with its over 464 species of winged creatures is ideal for bird watching. More than 70 species of mammals, and over 90 species of reptiles call Limoncocha home.

The Limoncocha Lagoon, an important part of the reserve, originated from the arm of the Pishira River. The lagoon is home to over 30 species of fish, along with caimans, turtles, and charapas. Aquatic and semi-aquatic plants thrive in surrounding areas.
